'Skip' the queue for your coffee at the airport

For Canberrans, a trip to the airport invariably involves getting up all bleary-eyed around 5.00am and heading off for a day’s work in some other capital city.

How sweet it would be to be able to organise a cup of coffee while going through the ritual humiliation known as airport security, before bypassing the queues at the various corporate coffee outlets and heading in to the safety of the Qantas Club.

Thanks to mobile app, Skip (iOS/Android), you can do exactly that. As you line up behind the newbies who are fishing out their laptops and being repeatedly sent back through the metal detector, simply fire up the app, nominate your favourite brew and relax with the knowledge that it will be ready for you as soon as you head up the escalators and get past the front desk.

Skip’s online coffee ordering service is now available to customers travelling through the Qantas Clubs and Business Lounges at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth domestic airports.

General Manager, Bill Bizos, said, “We know that many travellers transiting through a Qantas Club or Business Lounge are looking for both convenience and caffeine, and this innovative new service offers both.

“Whether you’re on your way to the airport and want to grab a coffee on the go before your flight, or you’d prefer to sit back, relax and enjoy all that the Qantas lounge has to offer, queueing up for your coffee will be a thing of the past with Skip,” said Mr Bizos.

Although it’s early days for the app, Skip can also be used outside of Qantas Clubs and Business Lounges in more than 800 participating cafes and bars across Australia. With over 60,000 registered users, Skip has processed over 600,000 orders, with more than 3,000 now processed each day.
