This Friday, let’s come back to reality with the People’s Car (or, at least, a version of it). Finally, after 18 months of speculation, the VW Golf GTi 40^th Anniversary edition is a real thing – and soon you’ll be able to drive one.

 

 

This looks like a pretty sweet deal. The current top-of-the-range Type R Golf will hurtle you off from the lights with around 206KW of power. The GTi is typically a little slower, but not this one. We’re talking a whopping 213KW that makes is almost 30% more powerful than the standard GTi.

The great news is that almost anyone can own and enjoy this pocket rocket. This is a four-door hatch that can hold a surprising amount of cargo and four adults comfortably. The Golf GTi 40^th Anniversary edition will be priced at $48,990 and will be available in July.
