The ability for two countries to work together toward a common goal is a momentous achievement. But for one Australian filmmaker to undertake the task to co-produce a film between two countries is truly remarkable!

Well, for Melbourne filmmaker Ruth Borgobello this is only the beginning of things to come with the release of her film The Space Between set to show from 20 July for one week at Nova and Palace Cinemas across the nation. The film is an emotional tale of love and loss set in the evocative region of Friuli Venezia Giulia in North East Italy. The film marks history as the first official feature film co-production between Italy and Australia since the treaty was signed in 1996.

We sat down with Ruth ahead of the film's release in Australia to chat about her work, how the project came about and what can we expect from Ruth and her team in the future.
