Most of us get that climate change is here. No doubt about it. Most of us do bits and pieces to help like recycling. We might even donate a bit of money to a climate change initiative or flick off the lights one night out of 365 for Earth Hour.

But can we hold our hands on our hearts and say this is enough?

The three guest speakers presenting at the upcoming ‘Actsmart For Change Luncheon’ (Thursday 1 September) say no. These dynamic, thought-provoking speakers are clear on how we all need to think about new ways to push forward on climate change.

This isn’t pie in the sky stuff. These authoritative speakers will share how you can create change by developing skills to run a successful engagement campaign. They’ll also talk about innovative communications tools to help you and others connect-the-dots and make a bigger contribution.

The speakers live and breathe climate change.

Natalie Isaacs, who founded 1 Million Women in 2009, inspires the uninspired on the subject. She passionately argues that no-one has the right to stand back and wait for others to act. We all need to live a low-carbon life.

Reece Proudfoot, from World Wildlife Fund Australia, led the Sydney People’s Climate March—the biggest, most successful of its kind with more than 45,000 participants. He’s also worked on hugely successful campaigns like Earth Hour.

Closer to home is Mitchell Pearce, Director of Canberra Urban Honey, who is 100% committed to greening up the local community with the help of hundreds of winged insects.

Held at the National Convention Centre, the ‘Actsmart For Change Luncheon’ is for all of us. All of us.

These speakers know it’s too easy to be complacent, even though we all face the reality that climate change isn’t coming—it’s here. Actsmart, the ACT Government’s sustainability hub, is hosting this luncheon to encourage us to be part of the journey towards climate change. This includes with actions that cost nothing, or very little, and are quick and easy to implement.

Tickets are $95.00 and include a locally inspired gourmet lunch by the award-winning kitchen team at the National Convention Centre Canberra, headed by Chef Nikhil Jain. Before or after, you can pop by the Actsmart Business Sustainability Expo (10.00am to 6.00pm).
