Have you booked your next holiday? Tripadvisor – the bane of Harry Trugiboff’s Christmas - has announced the top 25 landmarks as decided by its users.

And the highest-ranking Australian site is something of a surprise.

 

 

Meanwhile, the rest of the list is an almost exhaustive collection of amazing places from almost every continent. Some are obvious – Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower to name a couple, but who has visited the Sheik Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, or Mezquita Cathedral de Cordoba in Spain?

Fittingly, the top spot on the planet was Peru’s Machu Picchu. Here is the entire Top 20:

There’s plenty to choose from in that list. The most interesting pick is that the Sydney Harbour Bridge came in at Number 24, and was narrowly beaten by the Australian War Memorial at 23!
