If you’ve ever thought of buying a BMW, this weekend might go a long way to convince you it’s a good idea to acquire a German dream machine.

From 10.00am until 3.00pm on Saturday 29 October Rolfe Classic BMW is throwing open its doors to promote the hell out of its stable of cars and motorbikes, in the hope you’ll hand over your hard-earned in a moment of adrenaline-fuelled giddiness.

For true design nerds, BMW’s External Designer, Calvin Luk, will be hosting a webchat with students to inspire them with stories of what it is like to achieve your design dream.

While the students were probably not born when Chris Bangle was appointed Head of Design at BMW, it will be interesting to hear more of the company’s visual direction. BMW's styling has certainly been toned down in the wake of the flare that the controversial American brought to the line-up in the late 90s.

Canberra United's Michelle Heyman in her Mini Clubman

There’s heaps more. Canberra United’s Michelle Heyman will be there to test your football skills as part of the Mini showcase. Apparently there will be a collection of original Minis on display, which will bring a smile to the face of any car fan.

Finally, there are glimpses of BMW’s past and its future with a gorgeous BMW Isetta and the extraordinary i8 both on show. The sheer difference in scale between the two-seaters should be enough to impress, but this is also a demonstration of how far motoring has come over the last 60 years, and what might be in store for the decades to come.
