What's on this week: 31 October 2016
Tonight might be Hallowe'en, but there are still plenty of treats across Canberra this week.
The Melbourne Cup
3.00pm Tuesday 1 November
Pretty much everywhere
The race that stops a nation will be broadcast in classrooms, staffrooms and boardrooms across the country. You simply have to decide where to watch it.
Plenty of businesses hold in-house functions, however there’s nothing like being at the track. Grab yourself a grandstand pass and head to Thoroughbred Park with plenty of other Canberrans. The weather is looking fine!
If not, then there are plenty of options at QT Hotel – perfect if you’re looking to enjoy a catered experience away from the crowds.
Breakfast Session: Tel Aviv Landing Pad
7.30am to 9.00am Tuesday 1 November
CBR Innovation Network
1 Moore Street, Civic
Free
Join Austrade's Tel Aviv Landing Pad Manager, Omri Wislizki and Canberra's start-up community at a breakfast session at the CBR Innovation Network, to hear about the opportunities the Tel Aviv Landing Pad provides for connecting with both Tel Aviv and Israel's innovation ecosystem.
Omri will outline the opportunities in Israel, why Israel is a Start-up Nation and how Australian start-ups considering international growth can access Israeli markets. Omri will also detail how Austrade’s Landing Pads provide 90 days of free access to Australian start-ups in leading co-working spaces across the globe.

Various spaces across Canberra
Canberra is Australia’s cool little capital. Design Canberra, now in its third year, showcases design excellence across all disciplines—the best the ACT has to offer. Design Canberra will present over 100 exhibitions, events, activations and workshops, covering landscape design, architecture, industrial design, technology, fashion, jewellery and more.
This year features a tribute to internationally renowned designer, Robert Foster, a youth workshop with Francis Sollano, a ‘trashion’ and installations artist from the Philippines, tours of the living rooms of acclaimed Canberra houses, and open artist studios.
