Today Uber CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick stepped down from his position at the International ride-hailing company.

The move comes after the head executive had taken a leave of absence amid a number of internal scandals that faced the company over the past few months.

“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life I have accepted the investors’ requests to step aside so that Uber can go back to building, rather than be distracted by another fight,” Mr Kalanick said in a statement to The New York Times this morning.

Kalanick will continue as a member of Uber’s board of directors.
