There are few British pop culture artefacts that have had the longevity of Doctor Who.

Overnight, the actor set to play the 13^th Doctor was announced. Fans of Broadchurch (featuring the 10th Doctor, David Tennant - pictured above) with be thrilled to learn of the delightful Jodie Whittaker as the first female in the role.

The first episode featuring Whittaker will appear in December (The Doctor Who Christmas Special). Meanwhile, have no doubt that fanatical fans of the show will fill websites and forums with plenty of opinions between now and then.

They'll just have to get used to it. Even the TimeLord's workplace is changing.
