It may be drizzling rain in Canberra today, however that is the perfect London-style setting for QT Canberra’s James Bond-themed edition of Men Inc. at Lucky’s Speakeasy.

Now in its fourth week of a ten-week run, Men Inc. is about creating a space for Canberra’s fine fellas to learn the finer points of being a man. With fashion tips, touch-ups from the QT Barber and cocktail tastings, these nights are the perfect place to ask the questions many of us are afraid to ask. If you’ve ever wondered why you shake a vodka martini and stir one made of gin, Men Inc is the place for you.

Let’s face it – one of the best-dressed blokes of the last 50 years has been James Bond. To celebrate the release of Spectre, the 24th movie in the long-running franchise, the QT team is putting together an evening for fine gentlemen to learn about the finer points of buying a suit to ensure a crisp, clean cut look that will have you walking tall and looking sharp.

Tonight sees local favourites, Braddon Tailors, setting up shop in Lucky’s. Over the last three years, owner Pip Morgan has taken Braddon Tailors from being a simple idea to a full shopfront offering Canberrans the opportunity to have locally-made suits cut from the finest cloth.

Forget buying off the rack. A truly fine gentleman has their suits made to order. The great news is that it’s really not that much more expensive, and as a result you will have an outfit that feels lighter than air and looks razor sharp. It’s also great to be able to choose your fabric, pick the lining and add the small touches like flower loops, ticket pockets and coloured stitching.

Also appearing as part of the Lucky’s trunk show will be Casa Pavone. Suppliers of fine accessories, their ties and pocket squares are the perfect accompaniment to the smooth lines the Braddon Tailors suits. Casa Pavone (translation: the house of the peacock) designs their products in Australia before having them made in England or Italy, are add an extra eye-catching aspect to a great suit.

On the food and drink side, tonight you can learn about the finer side of bourbon. Much more than a drink consumed with cola from a can, the upper end of the bourbon market presents liquors that rank up there with the finest whiskies. Do a ‘flight’ (a taste of a series of bourbons) or go straight for the classic Mint Julep cocktail which is a classic of the American Deep South.

Finally, to cap off a Happy Hour from 5.00pm – 7.00pm there will be a pig on a spit delivered straight from the award-winning Capitol Bar & Grill Restaurant. Last week, the arrival of the beast was a true show-stopper, and you won’t want to miss out tonight.

We’ll see you tonight at Men Inc!
