St.George Banking Group’s Fingerprint Logon technology has won the Innovative Retail Banking Product of the Year at the Australian Banking & Finance Awards held in Sydney last night.

Dhiren Kulkarni, St.George’s CIO, said the bank is incredibly proud to accept the award and be recognised by AB+F for providing a simple and easy way for customers to do their banking.

“The award illustrates our focus on delivering innovation that matters to our customers by offering faster, easier and secure ways to log onto their mobile banking at the touch of a finger.

“Most importantly, our customers tell us they love using Fingerprint Logon, with close to 100,000 customers embracing the technology,” Dhiren said.

This is the third industry award for St.George’s Fingerprint Logon, including Best Mobile Phone Banking Initiative for ‘User Controlled Security Management’ in The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards, and Best Security and Fraud Management category at the Financial Insights Innovation 2015 Awards.

St.George’s world-first Fingerprint Logon follows a number of advancements in innovation and technology led by the bank, including being the first Australian bank – and the second in the world – to offer internet banking in 1995, and the first Australian bank to launch mobile banking on smartwatches.
